The Cardiff Council team that provides around 33,000 meals across the city every day has been recognised in a national award scheme.
Cardiff Catering, which produces meals for schools and Council facilities across Cardiff, has been shortlisted in three categories in this year’s Welsh Local Authority Catering Association (LACA) awards.
The Cardiff Catering management team has been nominated for the Welsh Catering Management team award along with teams from Anglesey and Wrexham.
The team that provides meals at Moorland Primary in Splott are in the running for the Welsh Primary School Catering Team award while Yvonne Nelson from the Moorland catering staff has been shortlisted for the Welsh Primary School catering frontline employee of the year award.
The annual Welsh LACA awards recognise individuals and teams from local authorities across the country that provide excellent standards of service. This year’s awards will be held at the Parc Hotel in Cardiff on Thursday February 17.
Executive Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Freda Salway, said: “Every year, Cardiff Council’s catering teams are recognised for the outstanding service they provide in a variety of award schemes. The service consistently raises the bar and sets very high standards.
“We are very proud of our school meals provision in Cardiff and it is wonderful to see all the team’s hard work being recognised and celebrated in this way.”
