A small family run training provider in Cardiff is expanding its horizons, exporting its skills and has landed another prestigious two-year contract with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
Ecom Learning Solutions will be delivering a number of training courses to staff based in Kuwait, including the internationally recognised BTEC accountancy qualifications and bookkeeping.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation also plans to fly senior staff to the UK where Ecom will provide training courses in business management, accounting and finance that are tailored to meet the needs of the oil industry.
The contract follows on from a Welsh Government trade mission to Kuwait that enabled Ecom to renew its contact with the Corporation and win the new contract.
Ecom delivered accountancy training courses to the Corporation in 2008/09 after a recommendation from the BTEC awarding body.
Financial Director Matthew Haynes said he was delighted to have won the latest contract that starts in the autumn.
“This contract is a huge boost for our company which has a strong client base in South Wales and comes at a time when many businesses are suffering from the credit crunch.
“The trade mission made it possible for us to go out and set up meetings with clients to discuss our training services which would have been very difficult and expensive without this support. As a result, we successfully tendered to deliver workshops over the next two years.
“The expertise and advice we received on the trade mission was extremely useful and gave a small company like ours the opportunity to look further afield for business which is of particular importance in these difficult trading conditions.”
Business Minister Edwina Hart said trading internationally opened up new markets and business opportunities for companies while delivering benefits for the Welsh economy.
“This illustrates that there are opportunities out there for companies of all sizes and I am pleased support from the Welsh Government played a role in Ecom’s success.”
The company, set up by Matthew Haynes and his father employs nine people and has partners in Oman and Dubai to develop further opportunities.
