Cardiff Council Warning to Residents: Be Aware of Rogue Doorstep Traders Posing as Trading Standards Officers.
Cardiff Trading Standards are today warning residents to be aware of a scam by which rogue traders are calling at doorsteps posing as Trading Standards Officers.
Reports have been received which suggest the scammers offer a counterfeit cheque from Trading Standards claiming that it is money owed to the resident following the overcharging from a trader. The cheque offered will be a considerable sum of money and worth more than any possible overpayment. It is used as a means to entice the resident to part exchange cash for the cheque which will inevitably bounce.
