Police in Cardiff are reappealing for information on a distraction burglary in Penylan, Cardiff.
E-fits of two men of the suspects have been released as officers continue to investigate the incident which happened on Friday, June 10.
Sometime between 11am and 3pm that day an unknown man attended the home of the 92-year-old in Waterloo Gardens offering to clean her guttering.
A second man turned up and took cash payment after claiming to have completed the work.
She later discovered that three medals – a Royal Artillery Medal, Auxillary Territorial Medal, and War Medal –and cash had been stolen.
Detective Constable Phil Dallyn, from Rumney CID, said: “The lady did not report the burglary until nine days later as she felt annoyed with herself and that her medals had been stolen.
“We sometimes find that distraction burglary victims can feel reluctant to report incidents perhaps like this because they don’t want to create a fuss, or they feel embarrassed or worried about the consequences.
“I would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of a distraction burglary to contact police as soon as possible after the incident as this increases our chances of catching the people responsible and ensuring that it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
“Despite the delay in reporting of this particular incident we are doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.”
Police are appealing with anyone with information on who had these stolen medals to contact Rumney CID on 029 2077 4233 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
