In its first year CIWW has seen nearly 80,000 visitors trying out the adrenaline fuelled course in the International Sports village. People of all ages have visited the centre from 8 years old to 80.

The centre is the UK first Olympic-standard pumped water canoe slalom course, offering canoeing and white water rafting facilities ranging from starter to recreational,  through to full international competition use.

Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells, said: “Cardiff International White Water has had a very successful first year and has brought a host of new opportunities to the city. The centre has helped to attract a new sporting audience to the capital by securing top water competitions like Premier Slaloms. The centre has also provided a new tourism attraction and has boosted what the city has to offer visitors to Cardiff, something that has been recognised at the 2010 National Tourism Award when the centre won the award for Best Visitor experience.”
