Cardiff is the first city in Wales and the South of England to provide an exciting new fitness trend that has been created and developed in the USA. Its arrival comes as the city celebrates being European Capital of Sport and aims to get more people interested and involved in sport, health and fitness.
Group Power® is a barbell exercise routine that focuses on a complete body workout. It strengthens all major muscles in a motivating and inspiring group environment with music and fully qualified instructors.
A free launch event will take place on Saturday 8, February at Pentwyn Leisure Centre where people can book onto a class and experience first hand this fantastic new workout.
Cabinet Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Ramesh Patel said: “2014 is an exciting year for Cardiff as the city embraces its title of European Capital of Sport. During this time we will continue to provide people with new and excellent sports and fitness amenities so that they can enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle at an affordable price.
“Like all other local authorities, Cardiff is experiencing some difficult financial times and it is vital that we strive to compete with the private sector in order to deliver the latest fitness provision at an affordable price. The arrival of Group Power® demonstrates to the public we are serious about reinvesting in our group exercise programme and the memberships on offer.”
Group Power® uses simple athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls and is aimed at people of all ages and fitness levels. The classes will be available at both Llanishen Leisure Centre and Pentwyn Leisure Centre from Monday 10, February.
