With only 200 days until the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Cardiff is gearing up to welcome some very special visitors.

The Botswana National Olympic Committee is the latest team to have selected the Welsh Capital as their pre-games training camp as they make their preparations in the lead up to London 2012.

Several Olympic and Paralympic teams including South Africa, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago and the Oceanic Islands will also soon be touching down in the city to train and prepare themselves before the Games commence.

Cardiff is honoured to have been chosen following a selection process which showcased the city’s excellent sporting infrastructure, facilities, professional approach of staff and the general friendliness of the people of Cardiff and Wales.

Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Nigel Howells said: “The 200 day countdown until the start of the Games is a fantastic time to announce that another Olympic team has selected our city to use as a pre-games training camp.

“This is an exciting time for Cardiff and it is an honour to welcome these inspiring and credible athletes to our city as they prepare to compete in the greatest world sporting event.”
