Cardiff looks to introduce law conversion course for aspiring solicitors and barristers

Cardiff Law School is looking to add the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) to its unique portfolio of legal training courses.

The GDL is a conversion course which enables non-law graduates to train for a career in law. It is much sought after by employers who value the type of students that it brings to their firms. The qualification is now so popular that GDL graduates make up a significant proportion of all new lawyers.

Cardiff’s GDL will combine the best of the School’s renowned undergraduate LLB programme with practical hands-on teaching from experienced legal professionals, enabling students to apply legal methodologies to real-world problems.

The GDL is a challenging and demanding course, and lays the foundations for an exciting career in legal practice. Those who complete the 10-month can go on to the School’s highly regarded Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), paving the way to qualification as a solicitor or barrister of England and Wales.

Subject to validation, Cardiff’s GDL will run from September 2012. To find out more, please email [email protected] or go to www.law.cardiff.ac.uk/gdl
