Cardiff murder investigation

South Wales Police is investigating the sudden death of a 30-year-old man from St Mellons, Cardiff.

James Way was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff just after 9am on Sunday, February 20 in an unconscious state. He died a short time after arriving at hospital.

An investigation has been launched and a 43-year-old man from Mynachdy has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an altercation which took place at an address in the Holmesdale Street area of Grangetown, during the early evening of Saturday, February 19.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Mark Lewis, of the South Wales Police Specialist Crime Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Way who died in hospital on Sunday.

“We know that James attended a flat in Windsor Court in Holmesdale Street sometime on Saturday afternoon where he may have been involved in an altercation.

“I wish to appeal for anyone with information on James’s movements between 10am and 7pm on Saturday to contact the incident room at Cardiff Central Police Station on 029 2057 1530 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
