Cardiff Older Person’s Forum

The Cardiff Older Person’s Forum will hold their first meeting for 2011 on Wednesday 16 February.

The event will take place at the Powerhouse Education Centre in Llanedeyrn at 2pm and those over the age of 50 are welcome to attend.

The event will give people the opportunity to discuss a wide range of local issues and current subjects that affect the lives of Older People in Cardiff.

The Cardiff Older Persons Forum was established in 2005 as part of the development of the Older Persons Strategy for Wales in Cardiff.

The current Chairperson of the Forum, Toni Verderame, a well known local volunteer and a community champion hopes to take the Forum to different areas of the city to discuss variety of issues.

Judith Woodman, Deputy Leader of the Council and Older Persons Champion, said: “The Cardiff Older Persons Forum provides a great platform for older members of the community to discuss and talk about matters that affect them. I am delighted that Tony will take the forum to venues across the city.”

Toni Verderame said: “The Cardiff Older Persons Forum needs to be accessible to all Older People as there is a very wide range of issues that are rarely discussed openly. These regional meetings will give Older People the opportunity to raise these issues and to make all Bodies which provide services more aware of the needs of Older People living in the City”.
