Due to continuing freezing conditions a decision has been taken for that all local authority schools will remain closed to pupils on Friday 8th January.
This decision has taken into account the severe weather conditions, the continuing health and safety risks for pupils accessing school sites, the significant reduction in home to school transport provision and the recent Council decision to restrict the gritting of roads to major routes.
At this stage the Council does not propose to extend the closure beyond tomorrow and expect, unless there is a significant deterioration in conditions over the weekend, schools to be open to pupils on Monday.
Faith based schools such as Church in Wales Schools and Catholic Schools will take their own decisions and inform parents of closures.
The following faith based schools will be closed 08/01/10:

- St Fagan’s C.W. Primary School
- St Illtyd’s Catholic High School
- St Patrick’s Primary School
- St Phillip Evans R.C. Primary School
- St Teilo’s C.W. High School
- Tredegarville CW Primary
