Cardiff Logo smallCardiff Council is organising the Sport Relief Cardiff Mile which will take place in Cardiff Bay on Sunday March 23 between 8.30am and 1.30pm.

Sport Relief aims to transform the lives of some of the most disadvantaged people, both at home and abroad, through activity related events.

Councillor Ramesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, said, “I would like to congratulate all the entrants in the Cardiff Mile and wish them all well. This event is both an opportunity for people to have a fun day as well as to raise money for worthy causes.”

Entrants for the Cardiff Mile will set off in waves, past the Norwegian Church, on a route that will both start and finish in Roald Dahl Plass. The entrance fee is £6 for an adult, £3 for a child and £15 for a family. Full details of the event are available at www.sportrelief.com

Road closures for the event are at 6 am Pierhead Street (from its junction at Falcon Drive), Britannia Quay, Harbour Drive and Bute Place (to its Junction at The Flourish) will be closed for traffic.

At 9 am The Flourish (southern end of Lloyd George Avenue around Craft in the Bay) from its junction at Hemmingway Road to its junction at Bute Street/James Street), will be closed to accommodate the setting up of the remaining infrastructure for the race.

It is planned to re-open roads as soon as possible and hopefully by 1.30pm, following the final wave of runners.
