This Friday the nation will be gripped by Royal Wedding fever as Prince William ties the knot with Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey.
Full coverage of the big occasion is to be aired live on the BBC Big Screen situated on The Hayes, Cardiff so that people can watch as the event unfolds.
The screen is positioned next to St David’s Hall, so shoppers, royal enthusiasts and those who just want to see Kate’s dress won’t miss a minute of the action.
Welsh musician and BBC Wales presenter Mal Pope will be at The Hayes from 9am until 2pm to give us a flavour of how the Welsh capital is preparing for the wedding.
At 2pm Roy Noble will take over from Mal to present his Radio Wales afternoon show live from The Hayes until 5pm, providing more news about what is happening in Westminster and across Wales.
To celebrate the occasion Cardiff Council will dress the area in bunting, fresh flowers and a picket fence to create a real wedding ambience along with 180 seats.
Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Judith Woodman, said: “The Royal Wedding will be a memorable event for many people all over the UK and I think showing the event on the BBC Big Screen on The Hayes will create a great atmosphere in the city centre.
“Cardiff has 54 street parties taking place across the city, a true sign of community sprit and I wish them all an enjoyable day.”
Throughout the UK there will be dedicated coverage of the Royal Wedding on BBC One Wales from 8am (BST) to 1.40pm, 2.10pm to 4pm and 8pm to 10.30pm.
As well as keeping track of the main event in the UK capital, BBC reporters will be out and about across Wales at various street parties, finding out how people across the nation are celebrating the day.
