A community carnival is going ahead this weekend despite fears it may fall victim to the weather.
Swansea Council workers are clearing an area at the back of the Community Centre on Broughton Avenue for it to hold the annual Blaenymaes, Portmead and Penplas summer carnival.
The carnival was originally supposed to be held on a nearby football pitch but heavy rain means the fields have become waterlogged.
It’s being held between noon and 4pm on Saturday (September 5) and includes fun for all the family.
Funding from Gwalia, Communities First and the Blaenymaes, Portmead and Penplas Development Trust has helped put the carnival on this year.
The Shaw Trust, Action for Employment and Swansea East MP Sian James will be among those present.
A cake stall will also on hand as well as face-painting, tarot reading, balloon artistry and a range of other entertainment.
Live music will come from the Penlan Jazz Band and the Baywood Belles.
Anthony Brito, Communities First Co-ordinator in Blaenymaes, Portmead and Penplas, said: “The summer carnival is an event for the whole community and we’re delighted it will be going ahead again as planned despite recent downpours.
“It not only offers a huge variety of entertainment for people of all ages but also acts as an important information point where people can access a huge amount of information from the organisations that attend.
“The carnival is an integral day in the community’s annual calendar and we’re hopeful of yet another strong turnout.”
A raffle is also being held throughout the afternoon to held raise funds for next year’s carnival.
