Carwyn Jones, has said he has been “humbled” by the level of backing he has received in supporting nominations for his candidacy from various section of the Welsh Labour Party.
He was speaking following deadline for the submission of supporting nominations, in the contest to replace Rhodri Morgan as Welsh Labour Leader.
As the Noon deadline passed, it was declared that in addition to the 8 Assembly Members, 14 Members of Parliament and 5 Constituency Labour Party nominations already submitted, Carwyn had also received the nomination of four trades unions in Wales in the affiliated organisations section.
The trades unions were as follows:
- UNISON Cymru/Welsh Labour Link;
- NUM (South Wales);
- UCATT; and
- Musicians Union
Speaking after the deadline, Carwyn said:
“I am humbled to have received such levels of support from all sections of the Welsh Labour Party.
“I am delighted that four unions have also offered their backing to my candidacy, as it underlines the strong and enduring relationship that exists between the Party and the trade union movement in Wales.”
