Llandaff Cathedral choristers are busy rehearsing for a feast of festive music in the run-up to Christmas.
They are teaming up with a brass band for a concert of traditional carols and anthems at the start of what will be their busiest week of the year.
Tickets are now on sale for A Cathedral Christmas which will be hosted by BBC Wales’ Jamie Owen. The choir will perform with the Brass Ensemble from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and there will also be readings and Christmas poetry from Francesca Kay. Mulled wine and mince-pies will be served as refreshments.
The choir’s conductor, Richard Moorhouse, said, “Christmas is a very exciting time for the young choristers as they prepare for this concert as well as several big services at the Cathedral which attract hundreds of people. They are on the go all the time and are usually exhausted by Boxing Day. They work extremely hard but for so many people Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without the wonderful music they contribute.”
A Cathedral Christmas takes place at Llandaff Cathedral on December 17 at 7pm. Tickets can be brought at Jasper’s tea shop on Llandaff High Street or on the night. They cost £10 for adults – children under 16 can get in free.
