CBBC’s Relic: Guardians of the Museum

A spooky – dead – tour guide, one of the biggest museums in the world and children…

These are the magic ingredients in Relic: Guardians of the Museum, a TV series which hit the screens of BBC 1 earlier this year.

Now the TV series has taken on a life of its own. Throughout the summer holidays more than 150 museums will be running their own Relic trails, modelled on the television programmes. These free trails are available at Ruthin Gaol, Plas Newydd, Llangollen, and soon at Rhyl Museum.

In the TV programmes, we are taken into the behind-the-scenes world of the British Museum in London. Young people are summoned to the great building by spooky tour guide called Agatha and given just one night to uncover the secrets of a relic held inside the museum.

The 13-part series is part of A History of the World, a unique, year-long partnership between the BBC, the British Museum and hundreds of museums throughout the UK.

Details of all those taking part can also be found on A History of the World’s website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/get-involved/relic-trail/.
