Enjoy a day with a difference as the Norwegian Church (NCAC) holds a celebration for Roald Dahl’s birthday this coming Sunday where children will be able to take part in a variety of great activities.
Roald Dahl spent his early childhood and schools days in Cardiff and his family worshipped at the Norwegian Church so this is the perfect place to commemorate his birthday. He was also christened at the church and later became its first appointed President for the Preservation Trust.
For the day NCAC has teamed up with Craft in the Bay to run clay modelling sessions so you can bring your favourite character to life in this fun workshop! Staff from Borders bookshop will also be reading extracts from your favourite stories at midday in a storytelling session. There will also be cake decorating and a themed menu including ‘Plushnuggets’ and ‘Glumptious Globgobblers’! You’ll have to come along to find out what they are made of!
Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture Councillor Nigel Howells said, “This annual event is hugely popular as Roald Dahl still continues to capture the hearts and minds of children all over the world. There is also a strong link between Roald Dahl and the church, therefore the Norwegian Church is the perfect venue to celebrate his birthday. The event will be even better this year with a host of fantastic activities for everyone to enjoy”.
