Celebrate World Book Day in Caerphilly Libraries

World Book Day 2014World Book Day on 6th March 2014 is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly it is a celebration of reading. It’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books.

Caerphilly County Borough Council will be celebrating World Book day in its libraries, marking the occasion by welcoming local schools along on the day and showing them how magical reading can be.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, commented, “World Book Day is all about getting children closer to the books and authors they love, and letting them discover more books and authors they’ll love every bit as much in the future.  Our libraries across Caerphilly borough have an amazing selection of books for all ages, I’d like to encourage everyone to pop into their local library and re-discover their love for books.”
