Flintshire’s musically talented young musicians and singers presented two spectacular “Celebration of Youth Music” concerts at Deeside Leisure Centre.
Both evenings were an outstanding success and featured more than 600 Flintshire pupils performing in three Choirs, three String Orchestras, three Wind Bands, Jazz Orchestra and two Harp Ensembles. Thursday featured Intermediate and Senior ensembles and Friday involved Junior Ensembles together with the Seniors once again.
This was the County Music Services’ 12th Annual Concert and is now firmly established as one of the major events in Flintshire.
Both concerts received several standing ovations from an enthusiastic audience of almost 2000 over the two evenings. The finale was a spectacular event, which involved all the choirs and young people who had taken part singing a specially arranged item, accompanied by the Senior Wind Band and Senior String Orchestra.
Amongst the audience was the Chief Executive of Flintshire County Council, Colin Everett, Chairman of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Colin Legg and Flintshire’s Director of Lifelong Learning, Ian Budd.
Chief Executive Colin Everett said “The twin concerts were a wonderful celebration of the musical talent of Flintshire. The breadth and professional quality of the varied work of the County Music Service – across ages and across musical discipline is without comparison in Wales. The performances are testament to the dedication of the young musicians and their families and tutors”.
