Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has secured a celebrity treat for the menu of the Big Welsh Bite 2011 – chef and TV star Gino D’Acampo!
The popular Italian personality will be cooking up a storm at the popular, free, family event, with cookery sessions and also signings of his successful books.
Following his success in the jungle, the “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here” winner and star of his own new ITV series “Lunch With Gino & Mel” will, hopefully, be leaving the widgety grubs, cockroaches and other disgusting delicacies behind to appear in beautiful Ynysangharad War Memorial Park on Saturday August 6.
His guest appearance forms part of the wider fun, games and attractions on offer at the Big Welsh Bite, organised to celebrate all that is good about living in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Cllr Maureen Webber, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Council Business, said: “We cannot wait to welcome Gino to Pontypridd and the Big Welsh Bite in August – it is such a coup for us to have secured him for the day.
“He will be on hand to prepare delicious dishes in his inimitable style and also to sign copies of his books. I know our communities will enjoy meeting him and picking up some top cookery tips from him.
“Of course, Gino’s guest appearance on the Saturday forms part of a wider weekend of free, family fun in the lovely Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and supported by our partners, including the Welsh Government, to celebrate life in Rhondda Cynon Taf.”
Christian Hanagan, Head of Strategy, PR and Tourism at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, added: “The Big Welsh Bite is one of the flagship events for the Council and we look forward to welcoming thousands of people from all walks of life to this free, fun and useful day organised on their behalf.
“As well as being a great day out with loads for all the family, the Big Welsh Bite is also a chance to support local businesses by purchasing handmade gifts, arts, crafts, delicious food and drink and more.
“The Big Welsh Bite allows everyone to celebrate a slice of Rhondda Cynon Taf life!”
