Stars of S4C’s hit series Cariad@Iaith:LoveforLanguage will take to the streets of Abergavenny on Saturday to promote a new campaign for the Welsh language channel – in heart costumes and specially-made sandwich boards!
Presenters Matt Johnson (ITV’s This Morning and Channel 5’s OK TV!) and Josie d’Arby (BBC’s Children in Need) will join former politician Lembit Opik as they film a series of comical on-screen promos in the market town.
Former Wales rugby captain, Colin Charvis, and actress Melanie Walters will also be filming in the centre of Swansea on Tuesday (30 August). Filming then moves on to Newport and Ebbw Vale on Wednesday (31 August) with Goldie Lookin Chain’s Rhys Hutchings and comedienne Helen Lederer.
The on-screen trailers promotes the channel’s accessibility to everyone – Welsh speaking or not. It also features references to S4C’s online catch-up service, Clic, Welsh and English subtitles and the range of programme genres available to watch on the channel.
The campaign featuring the Cariad@Iaith:Love4Language stars will run on television and radio from 16 September.
S4C will return to Gwent and Blaenau Gwent at the end of September to host a range of bilingual events and activities for the whole community.
Among the activities will be a pub quiz, a food tasting session with resident chef Dudley Newbery and an S4C Viewers Evening – giving the people in the area an opportunity to give their views on the channel’s programmes and services.
