Cardiff Trading Standards are warning residents to beware of bogus callers acting as census collectors. Census forms are currently being delivered to residents and by law have to be returned by post or online as soon as possible after March 27.
However, those who forget to return the form will receive a reminder visit from a census collector. Councillor Judith Woodman, Deputy Leader Cardiff Council said: “Legitimate census workers will always carry a photo identity badge, bearing the 2011 Census and Office for National Statistics logos.
“They will not try to enter anyone’s home unless invited and they will not ask residents to provide bank account or credit card details. “If people have any doubts about the identity of anyone claiming to be a 2011 Census worker they should call the Census helpline on 0300 0201 130.”
If you find you are a victim of a bogus caller you should also report it to Consumer Direct Wales on 08454 04 05 06 or 08454 04 05 05 for a welsh speaking officer.
