Denbighshire County Council is celebrating building its hundredth affordable home this year. Denbighshire’s multi-award winning Strategy Team, Planning Department, local Housing Association partners and developers have worked together provided a mixture of affordable apartments, houses and specialist accommodation which is a major achievement in the current economic downturn.
The homes are part of Denbighshire’s target for 2010/11 to accommodate local people who want to purchase or rent an affordable property in their own community.
The affordable properties have been secured to provide accommodation of different tenures across the county such as Shared Ownership, Low Cost Home Ownership, Affordable Rented, Homebuy, Mortgage Rescue and by bringing empty homes back into use.
Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, Councillor David Thomas, said: “Regeneration is one of Denbighshire top four priorities and would like to congratulate everyone involved in creating affordable homes for people within their own communities.
“Through partnership working, 100 householders can now enjoy a high standard of accommodation in a wide variety of properties across the county.”
