A Ceredigion Youth Conference – to raise awareness of young people’s entitlements – is to be held at Canolfan yr Urdd, Llangrannog, on Friday 12 February 2010.
The event offers an opportunity for Ceredigion young people, aged between 11- 25 years of age, to learn, participate and express their views on issues and services within the county that concern them.
The Ceredigion Youth Conference is an event for young people and will be run by young people with support from representatives of Ceredigion-based statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
Nia Evans, the Participation Officer within Ceredigion’s Education and Community Services Department, explained: “It is extremely important that we listen to the voices of young people are listened to and that their views are includes within decision-making processes. They are the future.”
Guest speakers at the Ceredigion Youth Conference will include Mr Keith Towler, the Children’s Commissioner for Wales and Ms Efa Gruffudd Jones, the Chief Executive of Urdd Gobaith Cymru. There will also be workshops during the day to include art and drama. Materials produced at the workshops will be exhibited at the forthcoming Urdd National Eisteddfod to be held at Llanerchaeron in June 2010.
