Changes to Cardiff’s 101 Number

There has been a change to the 101 single non emergency number service in Cardiff.

The 101 number is a 24-hour police non-emergency number and call handlers deal with requests for non-urgent police services in response to incidents of anti social behaviour and crime reported by the public.

101 will still be the number to call for issues that require a joint response such as graffiti, stray horses, off road motorcycle nuisance, dog fouling, abandoned vehicles and reporting drug related equipment.

From April 1 noise nuisance incidents will be reported directly to the Council via Connect to Cardiff – 029 2087 2087. More details can also be found on the Cardiff Council website: www.cardiff.gov.uk

Cardiff Council will continue to work in partnership with South Wales Police, under the umbrella of the Safer Capital community safety partnership, to address issues of anti social behaviour across the city.

Cardiff Council is also setting up a 24-hour customer contact service for members of the public to report other issues out of hours. It is hoped that this number will be operational by the summer. In the meantime, the Council’s contact centre – Connect 2 Cardiff (C2C) – can be contacted on 029 2087 2087 (English) and 029 2087 2088 (Cymraeg) between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.

Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice Cllr Judith Woodman said: “It is important for Cardiff communities to see that even in these challenging times, the police and Council remain committed to working together to provide a joint response to the issues that affect their quality of life.”
