Changes to taxi ranks in Prestatyn High Street

Taxi users in Prestatyn are being informed of a change of location for taxi ranks in the lower end of the town’s High Street, commencing February 13.

Problems have been encountered on the bus station project which require some urgent design work to overcome them. These unforeseen problems relate to a retaining wall to the rear of the Bus Station.

Whilst this is undertaken, and to ensure the overall completion date for all the highway work is still met, it is necessary for the contractor to now commence work on the bottom of the High Street earlier than originally planned. It would be unsafe to allow the existing High Street ranks to remain open during this period which is why the alternative provision is being made.

Two temporary taxi ranks are being created to cater for the needs of the taxi trade and their customers.

The two new temporary ranks are;

Station Road Prestatyn ( North Side Bastion Road end). There will be spaces for 4/5 cars. This rank will be signposted from within the railway station. The work on the North Side of the railway station is expected to be completed within the next two weeks. This will introduce an additional two permanent rank spaces on the North side of the station. There will also be two pick up and drop off spaces in the car park that taxis will be able to use.

Unnamed Road, Prestatyn, leading from High Street leading to Ty Nant Council Buildings. It will be on the north side of the  road and start 10 meters from the junction with High Street and goes far as the toilets. Spaces to 6/7 cars in this location. There will be highly visible signs on High Street from Bridge Road to this rank. After approximately 12 weeks, this rank will be replaced by a rank on King’s Avenue once the Ffordd Pendyffryn bus station reopens, as detailed below.

Kings Avenue Rank A traffic order is being applied for,  so that once the bus station moves back, those 3 delineated areas on the roadway, now designated for buses, will become 3 taxi ranks. There should be capacity for 6/7 spaces in this location.

Offa’s Tavern Pay & Display Car Park Lower High Street.
The car park on lower High Street, will remain open. Any taxi using this car must comply with the pay and display regulations that apply to all motorist.
