Families across the whole of North Wales could soon be benefitting from the services of a St Asaph based charity which provides specialist counselling and support.
The North Wales Chrysalis Trust, which celebrated it’s 10th anniversary this summer, provides information, counselling and support to families who have a child diagnosed with serious illness, and bereavement counselling to families who lose a child. The Trust is currently only able to provide services to families in Conwy, Denbighshire and parts of Flintshire, but it is hopeful that ongoing discussions with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board will result in an extension of services across the whole of North Wales.
Shadow Health Minister and Clwyd West AM Darren Millar, who visited the North Wales Chrysalis Trust this week said:
‘There can be nothing more devastating to a family than the loss of a child or having a child diagnosed with a serious illness. The North Wales Chrysalis Trust provides support for families facing situations like this on a daily basis.
‘The Trust’s services are provided free of charge by professionally qualified counsellors and are just a phonecall away.
‘I really do hope that the local health board are able to invest in the expansion of these services into North East and North West Wales – they will make an enormous difference to those who access them.’
