Chepstow Library and Macmillan Cancer Support will join forces with the National Exercise Referral Scheme and Velindre Cancer Centre on Tuesday, 18th March from 2 to 4pm to host an afternoon of gentle exercise introducing people to the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Activities will be based at Chepstow Library and will include a short walk and chat, a gentle Tai Chi session and an introduction to Wii hab. They are suitable for everyone.
Research by Macmillan Cancer Support has shown that activity may help people undergoing treatment for cancer to cope with fatigue and may even boost their mood. Staying active includes walking, dancing, swimming, gardening and it can be fun as well as benefiting wellbeing.
The walk starts at 2pm, Wii hab from 2.15pm with Tai Chi at 3.30pm. Sessions led by trained instructors last approximately half an hour and because activities for each session are timed participants may take part in more than one. In addition, information will be available on activities and groups to support wellbeing.
All Monmouthshire libraries have free cancer information areas and offer drop-in cancer information sessions. For more information about the activity taster session ask in your local library or email Macmillan Coordinator Erica Sheppard at: [email protected]
