Buying high quality Monmouthshire made products is about to become much easier thanks to a new partnership between Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) and Social enterprise Made in Monmouthshire. Made in Monmouthshire will launch its new outlet at Chepstow Tourist Information Centre (TIC) on Wednesday 5th December.
The event is open to all and will give people the opportunity to buy the fantastic array of products that are made within the county of Monmouthshire, whilst promoting Monmouthshire’s artists, makers and food producers to the nearly 50,000 people that use Chepstow TIC each year.
Made in Monmouthshire recently re-launched as a social enterprise. Commenting on the agreement, Made in Monmouthshire Chairman David Haswell said:
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to establish this partnership with Chepstow TIC and we are very grateful to Monmouthshire County Council for enabling to use the TIC in this way. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the fantastic range of products from Monmouthshire, including high quality art, craft, food and wine from Monmouthshire producers.”
Kate Burton ( Tourism Business Development Coordinator for MCC ) said:
“We are very excited about this partnership with Made in Monmouthshire. It has helped us to create a real sense of place for people using Chepstow TIC, whilst supporting local makers and artists. The display showcases the fantastic products available from makers and producers right here in Monmouthshire giving people the opportunity to purchase them too. It’s worth remembering that TICs don’t just serve visitors to the county – they have a very real role in providing services to the local community. So I hope that Monmouthshire people will also take the opportunity to access locally made products.”
The launch event will take place between 4 and 8pm on 5th December and is open to all. Products on display will include handmade jewellery, woven textiles, original paintings, limited edition prints as well as award winning welsh wines, honey and other food produce selected from Made in Monmouthshire members.
Chepstow TIC is open daily all year round, from 09:30 -15:30 from October 2012 to end of March 2013 and from end of March 2013 to end of October 2013 09:30 -17:00.
