Efforts to establish new junior tennis clubs in Tenby and Pembroke Dock have been given a boost with sponsorship from Chevron.
The new clubs meet weekly and Chevron has also provided T-shirts for all youngsters taking part.
The scheme is being run by Sport Pembrokeshire, Pembrokeshire County Council’s sports development service.
It aims to establish new clubs based on school sites, the funding for which is being provided by the Sports Council for Wales and Chevron.
Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Cultural Services, Sport, Leisure and Tourism, said:
“Chevron’s long-running partnership with Sport Pembrokeshire is a continuing success story.
“This particular initiative is getting young people out on the tennis courts before Wimbledon mania and intends to sustain the interest long after Wimbledon; by setting up new clubs in parts of the county that hitherto do not have such an outlet for young tennis players.”
Tenby Junior Tennis club meets every Tuesday evening after school hours at Greenhill School courts.
The Pembroke Dock Junior Tennis Club meets every Thursday evening at Pembroke Dock Community School, from 3.30pm to 6pm.
