North Wales Police Chief Constable, Mark Polin and his team raised over £1,500 for charity when they took part in a ten mile run on Sunday, July 18.
The Chief, along with 10 NWP officers and staff ran in the first ever West Cumbrian Run, in memory of a police officer who tragically lost his life last year during the floods in Cockermouth.
The race was dedicated PC Bill Barker and also helped to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance, a charity close to the heart of Bill’s family.
Mr Polin and colleagues decided to run in support of their Cumbrian colleagues, who have also had to deal with the tragic shootings which took place recently in Whitehaven.
The race was started by PC Barker’s wife, Hazel, in Cockermouth, and the field of almost 500 runners followed the undulating route through the Cumbrian countryside to the town of Workington.
The first NWP runner home was PC Nick Brown in a fantastic time of 1 hour and 9 minutes. PC Yvie Johnson, who finished in 1 hour 14 minutes, was the first female police officer home and second overall female.
There were two other Chief Constables taking part, from Cumbria Constabulary and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary. Mr Polin did his team proud by being the first Chief home in great time of 1 hour and 14 minutes. Together the North Wales Police officers have raised in excess of £1,500.
