Carmarthenshire Youth Council is holding their annual Youth Conference on Wednesday November 4 at the Scarlets Stadium.
To mark the twentieth anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Youth Council has named their theme My Generation, which will focus on children’s rights.
Charlene Davies, Carmarthenshire Youth Council Chairperson said:
“We chose the theme My Generation because even today many young people are still unsure of their rights.
“It’s important that we know as young people what we’re entitled to and that we can speak up on issues tat are important to us.
County Councillors will be present at the event to answer questions and provide information.
Young people’s champion and Executive Board Member for Children and Education Services, Councillor Gwynne Wooldridge added:
“This is a fantastic theme for an annual youth conference and I’m confident that young people attending the conference will leave the day fully aware of their rights.
“Every child and young person in Wales has seven basic entitlements, all of which they should be aware of.
“By educating young people on their rights, they can then voice what aspects of their entitlements need to be improved upon in order to have a flying start in live.”
The event runs from 9am-2:30pm and is open to all young people, teachers, youth workers and organisations dealing with young people.
