A free leaflet highlighting a new walking trail through Rhyl’s Drift Park is hot off the press.
The trail is the latest addition to the Drift Park and allows children the opportunity to explore through five different zones.
Celebrating Rhyl’s heritage and role as a seaside resort, the contemporary Drift Park also includes a natural garden area, children’s play park, mini golf, amphitheatre and water play area.
The free trail leaflets include a set of clues that children can follow, and completion of the clues allow children to pick up their free prize sticker at the Tourist Information Centre.
The theme of the trail is based on resident seagull, Sandy, who is looking all over the Park for her tail feather. The leaflets provide all the information needed to crack the mystery of the lost feather, as the clues can be found at various points on the trail map.
The Drift Park has been recognised and commended for the role of the local community in its design and it has taken inspiration from its seaside location, celebrating local events and characters and incorporating innovative outdoor artwork and materials.
The Drift Park has also created a stronger link between the town centre and the seafront, and has been crucial in the wider transformation and regeneration of Rhyl.
The Park has won a number of prestigious awards over recent years, including the 2008 Landscape Institute Award, which honours excellence in landscape developments and the 2008 Civic Trust Award
Councillor David Thomas, Denbighshire’s Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: “The Drift Park has been a massive success since it opened, and has given our local community great confidence and pride in itself. The trail offers children the opportunity to become immersed in a really exciting, dynamic and innovative play environment.”
Leaflets for the Drift Park Trail can be obtained free of charge from Rhyl Tourist Information Centre, based at the Children’s Village, nearby, or can be requested from one of the lifeguards based on the site.
