Trading Standards in Cardiff has been made aware of a cruel scam masquerading as a Chinese Investment opportunity. Cardiff residents should be highly vigilant of any correspondence as the criminals appear to be targeting older people.
The scam letter mentions investments of supposedly deceased individuals that can be accessed by namesakes in the UK. It is completely bogus and people should not communicate in any way with the people sending these letters.
Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council and Executive Member for Housing, Communities and Social Justice, Cllr Judith Woodman said, “This is a particularly nasty scam that appears to target older people and refers to allegedly deceased people. People should have nothing whatsoever to do with these letters and throw them away immediately.”
