Neath town centre was the place to be on Friday evening when the Christmas lights were switched on by the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Pam Thomas and Father Christmas.
The Wave/Swansea Sound Radio Roadshow was in Angel Square entertaining the crowd.
The crowds sang along to Christmas carols beautifully performed by school children from Ysgol Gynradd Castell Nedd and the Briton Ferry Silver Band with a special guest appearance from Kirsten Osbourne recent winner of the Barnardos Kid’s Got Talent competition.
Hundreds of people turned out to watch Father Christmas arriving in style on his wonderful new sleigh.
Joining Santa in the parade were local community groups and clubs dressed up in fabulous costumes with samba bands, belly dancers, fire spinners and Panto stars as well as an Ice Queen and a giant Yeti on a bicycle!
Many shops extended their opening hours adding to the festive atmosphere.
Santa returned to his grotto in the Castle Hotel for a mince pie and glass of sherry and he’ll be there every Saturday until the 19 December, for information on grotto opening times telephone 01639 640670.
