Three charities will benefit by £1,542 thanks to the festive fundraising efforts of Vale of Glamorgan Mayor Cllr Emlyn Williams.
With the support of council staff, officers and members, and charity representatives, Cllr Williams organised a Christmas raffle, the proceeds of which went to the National Coastwatch Institute (Nell’s Point), Cardiff and Vale Breastfriends and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Cllr Williams said: “I am delighted that, with the support of so many people across the whole council and friends and colleagues, I was able to raise such a marvellous amount for these three very worthy causes which I am supporting during my year of office.
“My grateful thanks to the local businesses and individuals who offered their support through donations and raffle prizes.”
Businesses which supported the raffle were: Villa Napoli Restaurant, Glendale Hotel (Penarth), J D Wetherspoon, Waitrose, Francis Kestle (Photography), Barry, Golden Well Restaurant (A48), Huddarts Restaurant, Cowbridge, Lafarge Cement (Aberthaw), Ledley Engineering, Cowbridge, Farthings Restaurant, Cowbridge, Sankai Restaurant, Penarth, Cardiff and Vale Natural Burial Ground, Dow Corning and Blue Hair Design (Penarth).
