Most of us are reluctant to welcome the dark chilly nights that October brings, and you know that summer’s officially over when you start seeing TV adverts for Christmas. And like most people, you probably find yourself thinking ‘I’m sure they start them earlier every year!’
But one group of students at Usk Campus are all prepared for the festive season. They may not have put up their tree or ordered their turkey, but they have embraced the goodwill spirit of Christmas by collecting goodies to send to families in Romania…
The animal care students planned and organised the project, which is part of Link Romania’s national campaign to make a difference to the lives of poor and needy people in Romania, as part of their tutorial enrichment programme.
Tutor Claire Stephens explains how the project came about: “After watching a video clip on the Link Romania website, the plight of the families touched our hearts and we spent a worthwhile lesson putting together gift boxes that will make such a difference to the lives of others.
“I’m very proud of the students for taking such an active part in this task, the amount of goodies they brought in to fill the boxes with was overwhelming.”
