Christmas knows no boundaries

denbighshire logoYoungsters from two Denbighshire primary schools will help spread the Christmas cheer across the continent as they take part in a ‘European Christmas Tree Decoration Exchange’.

Ysgol Carrog and Ysgol Dyffryn Iâl (Llandegla and Bryneglwys sites) will be taking part in the project which will involve making Christmas tree decorations from various materials and creating an information pack on how Christmas in the region is celebrated.

The purpose of this exchange is to promote intercultural dialogue and understanding between schools in the EU through learning about how Christmas is celebrated in other EU countries, and to encourage collaboration between these schools in the future.

Children will discover the similarities and differences about how Christmas is celebrated in each EU country and hopefully learn about the culture, language and the people at the same time.

The decorations that each school receives will be used to decorate the school Christmas tree and the information packs will be used to put together a display in each school to learn about Christmas across Europe.

There are fifteen countries participating in this initiative (Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and the UK). This amounts to sixty-three schools from across Europe.
