To mark the 900th anniversary of Haverfordwest, all the churches of the Haverfordwest Collegiate of Parishes will be holding an Open Churches Day on Saturday 24th July.
From 11.00am to 4.00pm, each church will open to visitors, and a variety of events will be taking place.
A commemorative brochure, featuring each church within the Collegiate, and advertising the events, will be available from early July from each church and from church members.
Some of the events planned so far include:-
- a display of church plate and a DVD of the church restoration at St Mary’s;
- hymn singing at Camrose;
- a day of musical performances at Wiston;
- a Cross-stitch exhibition at Walton East
- an exhibition of local history at Clarbeston.
Some churches will be displaying their parish registers for those interested in family history, and some will also be serving tea and coffee and other refreshments.
Although it may not be possible to visit all eleven churches within the Collegiate on the day, it is hoped people will take the opportunity to visit at least some of them. Why not make a day out to visit some of the less familiar churches, which may not be open regularly at other times, or those you have not yet seen. It is surprising what gems can be found in our churches.
