When completed, the new station will house 20 bus bays, three coach stands, a modern passenger waiting area, ticketing services and Shopmobility facilities.
Shoppers and passers-by will be able to view the next phase of the steel work being put up this week.
The latest phase of work will include the introduction of the unique internal steel wishbones which are one of the main features of the transport interchange.
Chris Vinestock, Head of Transport Services in Swansea Council, said: “The redevelopment is progressing well and our contractors, Willmott Dixon, are getting on with the job of delivering a fantastic new transport interchange.
“Everyone is excited about the project being completed and we all believe the new development will provide local transport users and visitors to Swansea with a bus station we can be proud of.
“We are working closely with our contractors to ensure everything is being done to minimise any disruption for shoppers and local businesses and to ensure the redevelopment is completed by the busy Christmas period.”
So far, the first phase of the steel structure has been put in place and more than half the work has been completed on the main bus apron which the buses park on. Features such as the shopmobility structure and parking facilities for the Grand Theatre have also been completed.
The project has received significant funding from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Wales European Funding Office.
