The Cleddau Bridge is set to be repainted for the first time since 1994.
The contract has been awarded to a local firm, BDS Contracts (Milford Haven) Ltd.
Work is expected to start on Wednesday next week (June 9th).
The contract will include the preparation and painting of all external surfaces of the box girder structure including bridge parapets.
No disruption is expected for vehicular traffic, with the majority of the works carried out from the four mobile bridge gantries.
However, access to the gantries and painting of the parapets will cause occasional minor disruption to the bridge footways.
Given good weather, the contractor hopes to have the works complete by the end of the year. However, if adversely affected by bad weather it is likely that works will be temporarily suspended and will continue next year.
The colour of the bridge will be changed slightly with a lighter shade of grey being employed. A trial section at the southern end of the bridge was painted last year, and the new colour can be clearly seen on the bridge parapets.
