Coast Path horse event is a success despite the wet weather

Organisers of the recent Horse Endurance event at Talacre would like to thank everyone who came to show their support on one of the wettest days of the year!

Despite the weekend’s torrential weather, 57 riders came to take part in the first official Horse Endurance event at Talacre Beach, with some of the riders coming from as far afield as Leicester and Stoke on Trent. The routes consisted of a 19 mile Endurance Ride and a shorter 12 miles Pleasure Ride.

Television presenter Jules Hudson, from the BBC’s Countryfile programme, officially opened the event and thanked those who supported the event, including Jane Willett from Sports Endurance, Karen Rippin Coastal Ranger, PC Dave Allen, the Coastal Rangers of Denbighshire County Council and Flintshire County Council; and the landowners – BHP Billiton, Presthaven Sands and the Environment Agency Wales.

Senior Ranger Mike Taylor also received an Achievement Award from The British Horse Society for his equestrian access work, which was presented to him by Jules Hudson.
