Coleg Gwent’s land based student put their skills in to practice when they helped to clean up Usk Campus after recent storms.
Countryside Management students Ross Emery and Lloyd Nash gained their Chainsaw Certificate of Competence as part of a work based Trees and Timber Award last year, and took the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice clearing tree branches following strong winter storms.
Under the supervision of countryside management lecturer Chris Knight the students helped to clear Usk Campus and Monmouthshire County Council grounds.
Ross, 17 from Llandevaud, said: “It was great to be able to use the skills learnt at College to good effect in a real-life situation.”
