Coleg Gwent students joined 12,000 young people and a host of celebrities and royalty including Prince Harry, Ellie Goulding, Jennifer Hudson and Richard Branson to celebrate WE Day at Wembley Arena on Friday 7 March.
Thanks to the huge amount of charity and community work carried out by Crosskeys Campus childcare and Independent Living Skills (ILS) students, 48 students were given a special mention and VIP treatment at the We Day UK event, featuring educational speeches, inspirational moments and show-stopping performances from A-list entertainers and world-renowned leaders at Wembley Arena.
Independent Living Skills tutor Victoria English said: “WE Day was phenomenal and a day we will never forget!
“The speakers and performers were fantastic! It was such a wonderful way to reward all the students for their fundraising and community work. We cannot wait to continue with WE Day projects.”
WE Day is part of a family of organizations, including Free The Children and Me to We, that has a shared goal: to empower a generation to shift the world from ‘me’ to ‘we’. WE Day participants sign up to take on local and global actions throughout the year.
WE Day which also featured international education activist Malala Yousafzai, Brit award-winning artist Dizzee Rascal, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Paralympian Martine Wright and Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group.
