Coleg Gwent is taking steps to support better conditions for farmers who grow the things we rely on. The College, currently working towards achieving Fairtrade status, is taking part in Fairtrade Fortnight from 27 February-11 March.
Coleg Gwent in conjunction with its catering suppliers Aramark, are celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight by offering a 15% discount on Fairtrade products, inviting staff to ‘take a step for Fairtrade’.
From chocolate tasting to enjoying a coffee, people UK-wide are being encouraged to support world farmers by organising events or making a change to Fairtrade over the next two weeks. Coleg Gwent staff will be able to show their support by trying something new or choosing Fairtrade products across the College’s five Campuses.
“Buying Fairtrade products is a simple way for everyone to support workers and producers who have been economically disadvantaged or marginalised by the conventional trading system,” said Coleg Gwent’s Procurement Manager Eira Miles.
“Fairtrade creates life-changing opportunities for producers and workers, so Coleg Gwent is proud to be supporting Fairtrade Fortnight and also continuing our commitment by working towards Fairtrade status.”
