Come and enjoy a great day out at the Powys Youth Arts Festival which is taking place at the Pavillion in Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday 12th August 2009 from 11am – 6pm.
The decision was made to partner with Powys Youth Service to put on the festival, which is running for the first time in this format with the aim of giving young people across the county access to a creative space where they can experience a variety of art forms in a fun and enjoyable environment.
Arts Connection, a community arts organisation based in Llanfyllin and CARAD, a community arts and heritage organisation based in Rhayader and Celf o Gwmpas have been working in partnership for a number of years and have recently received funding from Arts Council of Wales to carry out this joint project.
Workshops on the day range from Graffiti to Haiku Twitterings, from DJing to Felt Making. Bands and singers from around Powys will also have the opportunity to perform on the stage.
Youth Centres have been involved in creating anti-bullying posters, recycled fashion and dance routines to enter competitions for a chance to win some excellent prizes.
The anti-bullying posters tie in with the launch of the new anti-bullying strategy.
There will also be circus skills workshops run by the fantastic NoFit State Circus; who will also be involved in ending the day with a finale spectacle!
