The Bryn Gwalia Communities First Jobs Fair, which was held recently at The Clubhouse in Mold, has been hailed a success by employers and local people who attended.
Twelve employers exhibited at the event and 267 people came along searching for employment opportunities and skills training and careers advice.
Terri Roberts,Training and HR Manager of Farm and Pet Place Ltd, said:
“We found the Jobs Fair an ideal opportunity to reach a large proportion of the local community and to recruit for our new store. It also provided a face to face exchange with local businesses and employment agencies as well as potential customers and employees. We do not feel we would have reached the same numbers had we not been at the Bryn Gwalia Clubhouse. An excellent event, well organised.”
One local person said that “it was nice to see that there are jobs available; it gave me the opportunity to speak to employers directly.”
Karen Hodgkinson, Chair of The Bryn Gwalia Communities First Partnership Board said:
“This is the first time Bryn Gwalia Communities First has held a Jobs Fair and we’re really pleased that this event has been so well received by local employers and future employees. It is hoped that Communities First will arrange future events to support local people back into employment.”
Bryn Gwalia Communities First, in conjunction with Flintshire Youth Service and Careers Wales, runs a Jobs Club every Wednesday between 12.30 and 2.30pm at The Clubhouse, Park Avenue, Mold, Flintshire, CH7 1RY.
Janiene Davies, Bryn Gwalia Communities First’s Community Development Officer, says anyone who needs help finding a job is welcome to come along:
“Our Jobs Club is open to anybody who needs assistance with CV writing, job searching and, hopefully, as employment opportunities arise, businesses will also attend as part of their recruitment process.”
