Communities First launch new premises

The official opening of Communities First’s new premises at 46 Church Street Flint will take place on Friday 1st October. All residents and organisations in Flint Castle ward are invited to attend.

The Rt. Hon David Hanson MP and Welsh Assembly member Sandy Mewies will perform the opening ceremony at 11a.m. Afterwards visitors are invited to call in throughout the day, meet members of the Board, view the facilities and find out about current projects.

Assembly Member Sandy Mewies said ‘I am delighted to have been asked to this important event which showcases the work of the Communities First Team. The new office will enable people to access both their support and that of other organisations.’

Members of the Communities First Partnership Board are delighted with the response to the new premises to date:

‘We are pleased to be based in the heart of the community, more visible and accessible to local people. The shop front display, with information on local activities has attracted a lot of interest. We have had a steady flow of people calling in to find out about our work and in some cases offering to get involved. There is meeting space for community groups and for Flintshire wide groups to offer outreach sessions. We are pleased to welcome the Credit Union which has set up a new collection point offering a savings club and affordable loans.’

Communities First works in Flint Castle ward to enable and supports residents to identify and tackle the problems of their area, develop skills, influence how services are delivered and play a part in community regeneration.’

David Hanson M.P. said:

‘Communities First do an extremely important job here in Flintshire helping the most vulnerable people in the more deprived areas. These new premises will enable Communities First to continue its work on the ground and make its services more accessible to local people’
