Community Gardens now complete in Johnstown

The creation of 30 Community Gardens for residents in Johnstown is now complete and work has started by local residents to mark out and start creating individual plots.

Johnstown Community Gardens Association have been working with Local Councillor David Bithell for over 12th Months to create the gardens. Work includes new fencing, access for residents and provision for parking. Johnstown Community Wildlife Group has also assisted with the project undertaking work to northern perimeter to provide a series of shrubs and hedges for wildlife species.

All of the Community Gardens have been allocated including one gardens to school Children from Johnstown. There is now a waiting list locally with over 200 people on the waiting list in Wrexham. Funding for this project has been provided by Tidy Towns Grant via Wrexham council.

Johnstown Councillor David Bithell said:

“This has been an enjoyable project as community gardens are becoming very popular in Wrexham. The local residents are very keen to get started and I am sure that they will be looking forward to enjoying some of there hard work in making this happen.”
